Haunted House @ Eclectic Ellapu

                                     

Hi folks and a big BOO to you too!!!!! Yes October is here and a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu. This months theme is "horror/dark". 
So along with a new month comes another American Holiday us Brits have decided to participate in!! I've never really been in to Halloween, even as a kid and in the crafting world we don't get much Halloween crafting goodies to play with in the UK. The stuff you find is often tacky and usually made of plastic. Not a great starting point.....
BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!! This year I got this.... from Tando Creations website

This is Tando's 3D House Kit. It's fab!!! It comes flat packed so you can decorate each bit flat (which makes it much easier if you're adding messy media like embossing paste...)

So... here is my creation...

Change of Season

Hi folks, todays blog post is from my creation over at Tando Creative.

Well the summer season is definitely over!!! I'm not too sure if it even started... But I dedicated this week creation to the changing seasons and the fact that Autumn is upon us. 

I decided to make a canvas using the gorgeous leaves from the Tando collection and concentrating on autumn colours like red, orange, yellow, brown, copper and gold.

I built up loads of texture on the canvas using texture paste, tissue, lace and ribbon then give it a coat of gesso. 

I then built up the collage using Tando goodies...

I added layers of acrylic paint, sprayed mica powders mixed with water, embossing powder and gilding flakes to add texture and build up the colour. 

Products I used...

IndigoBlu -

Sunflower Clock

Hello all and welcome to my blog. 

Here is what I want to share with you today... 

As you may of seen over the past week, IndigoBlu's Kay has been back on the TV screens over at the new craft channel Hochanda. She brought some clock samples to show the beautiful IndigoBlu papers.

As a IndigoBlu demonstrator I have had the chance to play with these stunning papers for a while and I love them. I'm not really a paper collection fan, I prefer to make my own background using stamps and ink etc. But these are in a class of their own!!! They are so thick and lush, great for distressing and adding paint and ink to and the best this is, they already come with the most beautiful vintage images. Just stunning!!!


The IndigoBlu Design Team all got one of the IB clock kits that were on the show, but as I'm a demonstrator not a DT member, I didn't get chance to do one. Boo hoo....
But as I had the papers and all the other IB products I thought I'd make my own version.

So I bought a clock from a supermarket for less than a fiver (bargain!!!) with all the mechanisms already in and I improvised. As that's what us crafters do!!!

I flicked through the IndigoBlu 12 x 12 Floral Vignettes papers and chose the sunflower. My clock face was exactly 12 inches so I used the entire sheets of 12 x 12. 
I added some Banana Custard IndigoBlu English Cottage Artist Acrylic paint to distress it.

As I didn't have the IndigoBlu clock Kit, I didn't have the hands and the stencil with the numbers on. So I used numbers from the Tando Creative Arthur numbers set and the Tando Creative Clock Hands. 

I painted them with black gesso and added some Autumn Blaze Mega Flakes. And I added so texture with a stencil from my stash.

All in all I loved making this project and actually enjoy using a paper collection.

CUCKOO CLOCK - Colour Theme - Tando Creative

Hello all!!!! Today I'm blogging my Tando cuckoo clock I have made for this weeks challenge theme at Tando Creative.

The colour palette for September is a gorgeous variety of one of my fav colours.... Purple!!! I just love any shade of purple!!!

This is the colour palette I had to work with.

For this week, I decided to work with Tando's Cuckoo Clock. I really like working with anything that can be displayed and used rather than spending hours creating something then sticking it in a drawer!
I enjoyed every step of creating this clock and I think I will be creating another one in the future. 

So here goes....

First, I put together all the layers of the Tando cuckoo clock then painted it with a quick coat of white Gesso.

I made templates for the windows and clock face and stamped and coloured them with Distress Ink and painted the rest of the clock with acrylic paint.

I used the Tando stripes mask for the roof area to give it some texture.

Then, I painted the numbers and clock hands with black Gesso and randomly went over the top with gilding flakes.

I added a metal owl embellishment and metal wings to the top  of the clock to act as the cuckoo.

To finish, I added some clear glaze over the widows to make them glossy and added some plaited jute string for the winding chains.

Altered Frame @ Altered Eclectics

Hi Folks. As you know over at Altered Eclectics every month we have a chance to play and alter what ever we choose. 

This month I chose a photo frame I picked up at a favourite haunt of mine - The Pound Shop!!! 
I love finding all sorts of treasures for pennies which can be altered and changed in to something fantastic.

So, for this moths altered item I chose a boring white photo frame... and created this....

6 months or older @ Eclectic Ellapu

Welcome to a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu!!! This months theme for the purple team is "use stash 6 months or older". Which, lets face it, we can all join in this month!!!

My creation is made from some of the oldest stuff I could find!!! I used a digi image which I printed for one of my first design teams, years ago!!! I haven't used digi images for a llllooooonnnnngggggg time and it took me a good hour to dig around and find my crafting pens to colour with! I defo don't use my pens much these days so thought, why not?

So here it is....

I used a newsprint stamp for the background as I thought, fishing - fish & chips - newspaper... and used some bits of fabric and netting that I inked green using distress inks.

I coloured the image using promarkers and then made a 3D flower using a simple layering technique with copy paper and the newsprint stamp.

I then found these chipboard letters I bought, where and when??? I have no idea but hey!
