Metallic Week @ Tando

Hi folks, welcome to Metallic Week @ Tando. This week it was all about making things shiny and metallic.

I chose the Tando 152mm x 152mm Printer Tray as my base and then some Tando extras to turn metallic.

Here is my creation...

I used the nuts and screws from the Tando Ministry of Mixology Andy Skinner Book Kit, grab bag of screws, set of 5 keys, Tando Minis - keys, locks & latches and cogs grab bag.

First, I put the printer tray together then covered the pieces with torn book pages. I went over with a wash of white paint then a wash of DecoArt metallic gold paint.

I added some random patches of gilding flakes to some of the sections in the base of the tray and along the frame edge.

I arranged the smaller Tando pieces on a board and sprayed them with DecoArt Shimmer Sprays. To give them some extra shimmer I mixed some mica powder with water and added it to a spay bottle.

With the bigger Tando pieces, I covered with a thick layer of DecoArt gold metallic paint then heated it with the heat gun until the paint bubbled to create some texture.

In a couple of the tray sections, I sprinkled some elements from the Stampendous Frantage bronze encrusted jewel kit then added a good heap of clear embossing powder to encase the Tando pieces and Stampendous fragments inside the melted powder.

I then arrange the sprayed Tando pieces inside and on the printer tray.

Here are all the Tando products I used...

Ministry of Mixology @ Tando

Hey folks and welcome to this weeks challenge from Tando! The theme this week is Ministry of Mixology kits.

The team chose one of the kits from the Ministry of Mixology events to work with.

Here is my creation...

I used the Ministry of Mixology Andy Skinner frame. I also used my homemade texture paste, lots of DecoArt Media Acrylic Paint and some products from Stampendous.

I first painted all the pieces of the frame with black gesso then applied homemade texture paste to the outer pieces of the frame. I then added lots of layers of DecoArt Media paint to create the colours and tones I wanted.

I used Andy Skinner's rust techniques for the screws around the inner frame which I learned at one of the Tando Ministry of Mixology Retreats.

For the inside section of the frame, I painted a 3D paper mache heart with DecoArt Media paint and added some sparkle and texture using the Bronze Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kit from Stampendous.

I had a really good time playing with the Ministry of Mixology Frame. It's an excellent kit to try out loads of techniques on.

Pop over to the Tando website to see all the products I have used and you can go to the Tando Blog from the Website to see what the rest of the team have created.
