Dark and Moody with Tando

Hello folks, welcome to this weeks post for Tando Creative. 

This weeks theme is 'dark and moody' and  I used Andy Skinner's Scared Secrets kit.

What I used...

* Andy Skinner's Sacred Hearts Tando Creative Kit.
* DecoArt Media Line: texture sand paste, crackle paint, white        gesso, black gesso
* DecoArt Premium Acrylic Paints: Paynes Grey, Phthalo Blue, 
  Primary Cyan, Quinacridone Gold, Pyrrole Red.

What I did...

* Paint all the elements with DecoArt white Gesso.
* Add DecoArt texture sand paste to the cogs, washers and screw        heads.
* Add DecoArt crackle paint to the other elements.
* Paint with DecoArt Premium Acrylic Paints. The colours I used        were: Paynes Grey, Phthalo Blue, Primary Cyan, Quinacridone Gold,    Pyrrole Red.
* Paint the heart outline with black gesso.

Tando 3D Challenge for Craft Stamper magazine.

Hello lovely lot. As you may have heard, the Tando team were given a 3D Challenge to feature in Craft Stamper Magazine. 

We were all given the same 3D substrate, designed by Di to play with and decorate. Being a CS subscriber I have seen all the examples and they are all so different. There are so many things you can do with it. 


Here is my take on it...

So, the 3D substrate opens up as a gate fold with help from the fabulous and creative stretchy hinges to reveal two little storage spaces to put in whatever you wish...

With Tando greyboard you can throw anything at it you wish, and that is just what I did! It can take a huge amount of different mediums without falling apart like other products.

So, my first layer was a nice thick layer of DecoArt Crackle Paint and DecoArt Texture Sand which I added both the different mediums quite randomly on the outside of the substrate.

When the crackle paint and texture sand had dried I painted it with DecoArt Premium acrylic paint. And added a bit of dry brushing with DecoArt white Gesso. 

I added lots of stamping to the outside and inside using a selection of Carabelle Studio Stamps using StaZon Ink.

Then came the question, what to put inside.... I decided to turn my substrate in to a mini stationery kit, so I added some small pieces of paper and mini pencils. I thought this could be a cool little item to keep near the telephone, or next to the noticeboard when a quick list or message would need to made...

I took a piece of thin white ribbon and painted it with the different shades of blue DecoArt Premium Acrylics, then tied the ribbon at the front to close the gate fold front.

Layers

Hello lovelies, today's post is for Tando Creative and this weeks theme is 'layers'.

I haven't chosen a specific Tando kit for this theme but instead, I had a rummage through my Tando box and picked out some "left-overs". (If, like me, you have had a few bits & pieces from Tando in the past, you will notice there are always poppie-outie-bits in a kit, which you could throw away or extra pieces of a grab bag you may not have used.... I tend to keep these in a separate box. In my "left-overs" box I have all sorts of shapes in many different sizes and these are the bits I used for this project.)

So, I used one of the innie arches from the Arabian Style Layered Arch Frame, Grab Bag of Circles, Butterfly Grab Bag and a birdcage.


I first Applied DecoArt Texture Sand Paste through the Tando Brick Stencil to the arch and left to dry. 

I added a couple of circles gluing a smaller circle under a bigger one to lift it from the background. 

I added the birdcage, then the butterflies.

I then used DecoArt Premium Acrylics to paint it. When it had dried, I dry-brushed  DecoArt Tinting Base over the top to tone the colours down.

Real or Faux Fabric

Hi peeps, I'm here with my post for Tando Creative.

This weeks theme is 'real or faux fabric'.

I created an ATC (Artist Trading Card) or rather a LATC. Which is a LARGE ATC, which to be honest, is something I kinda made up.... as an ATC is traditionally 2.5" x 3.5" in size where mine is slightly bigger. So, I suppose you could be called a postcard??

I gathered a collection of different fabrics - canvas, cord, ribbons, burlap... and glued them to a piece of Tando greyboard.

When the fabric had dried, I painted the surface with DecoArt white Gesso. 

I used the Tando Stitches Group 15cm x 15cm stencil with DecoArt clear modelling paste to add some raised stitches. 

And some buttons. Then painted it with DecoArt Premium acrylics.

Embossing Folders @ Tando Creative

Hi folks. Welcome to my post for Tando Creative. This weeks theme is 'Embossing Folders'. 

Tando's amazing greyboard can be used in many different ways. It is strong enough to take anything you throw at it including multiple layers of different mediums. But, it is also soft enough to be manipulated with an embossing folder. 

I used a Tando long tag and embossed it with a leaf embossing folder using a manual die cutting machine. (see note below).

Then painted it using DecoArt Premium Acrylic Paints.

I painted some paper flowers with the DecoArt Premiums Acrylics and left to dry. 

I took some artificial leaves and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder.

I added a sentiment 'bloom' using a Dymo Omega label maker.

I then added some black satin ribbon to the tag top.

Note - I have tried this technique with both an electric and a manual die cutting machine. My findings are the manual machine has better results. I think this is due to being able to add more pressure with a manual machine. With the electric machine, even though the theory is it can cut through anything... when it comes to embossing, it's a different story. 
When trying to add more pressure to get a deeper emboss, the machine doesn't like it and spits out the plates.

Texture, texture, texture @ Tando Creative

Hello lovely peeps and welcome to my blog post for Tando Creative, This weeks theme is 'Texture'.

The Tando kit I used for this project was the Cogs Mega Pack and I threw a ton of DecoArt Media products at it to create some fabulous texture.

I used DecoArt crackle paint on the bigger background.

Then used DecoArt white modelling paste on the smaller background. 

I used DecoArt texture sand paste on the cogs.

When all the pastes where dry, I used DecoArt Premium Acrylic paints.

I used a stamp from the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Sideshow stamp.
