Colour it Blue

Hi folks, today I am posting for
The Artistic Stamper.
The theme this month is 'Colour it Blue' which for me, is quite "normal" as blue tends to be the most popular colour I go to. (mmmm.... I think I need to stop doing that...

I chose the fabulously crazy Birdz stamp set by Neil Walker to play with. Along with a selection of 3 x 3 stencils and a selection of blue Oxide Distress Inks.

I first used the stencils with the selection of blue inks on white card creating a background.

I then stamped the Birdz and coloured them in with the Oxide inks and water.

I then stamped the phrase 'free as a bird' using The Artistic Stamper Decay Alphabet stamp set.

Everything I used is below and available on The Artistic Stamper Website.

Thanks for popping by.

Creating Backgrounds @ The Artistic Stamper

Hello folks! Welcome to My first post for May for The Artistic Stamper. This month's theme is 'backgrounds'.

The Artist Stamper have a fantastic collection of stamps which can be used for backgrounds.
I love making my own backgrounds - starting with a white piece of card and adding colours, textures and layers to create a background.

And this is what I did for this creation...

I started with a white piece of card - size 7" x 7" and coloured the white card with a selection of blues and purples Distress Ink.

I then added a couple of squirts of water and let the water run down the card.

I used The Artistic Stamper Mini Backgrounds A6 stamp set, Mini Backgrounds A6 #1 and Mini Backgrounds A6 #2 by Neil Walker.
(These stamps do all come as individual A5 stamps. But with the Mini Background set, there are 4 stamps in the set which I find gives me much more variety.)

I used stamps from all three sets and stamped using the same Distress Inks, layering and overstamping the patterns.

I then stamped the butterfly from the Insects and Butterflies A5 stamp set on to the background with black ink. I then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

To finish I added a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Advantus Idea-Ology Small Talk sticker.

Thanks for popping by my blog today.
Toodles for now,

Birds & Bees @ The Artistic Stamper

Hi lovely peeps! Welcome to today's blog post for The Artistic Stamper

This month's theme is 'Birds and Bees'.

The stamps I used from The Artistic Stamper were Neil Walker's A6 Birdz set and Mini Backgrounds #3.

I started with a white piece of card and added colour using Faber Castell Gelatos. I randomly added a collection of colours to the white card and added some water to blend the colours.

I stamped one of the mini background stamps from set #3 using black Versafine Ink. I started with 2nd generation stamping so the ink wasn't too dark, and continued to stamp until the ink faded.

I stamped the birds on to white card with black Versafine ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Then fussy cut them out.

Again, I used the same collection of gelatos to add colour to the birds.

I added a phrase from Tim Holtz 'Small Talk' stickers.

To finish, I mounted the background on to white card to give it a frame, then mounted on to black.

Thanks for popping by my blog today.

Love Heart 'Heart' @ The Artistic Stamper

Hi folks and welcome to my post for
This month's theme is 'Red' and this week I went for a home deco project.

Here is my creation...

I had a rummage around my 'things to alter' box in my craft room and dug out a metal heart Christmas decoration.

I painted the heart with a good couple of coats of white gesso to give it some texture.

Next, I added ArtDeco crackle paint around the edges on the surface of the heart then painted it with ArtDeco Premium acrylic paints.

I then stamped the Heart stamp from The Artistic Stamper directly on to the metal heart.

To finish, I added some jute string to the top of the heart.

Thanks for popping by my blog today, please leave a comment if you like, I love to hear what you think.
Toodles for now,

Roses are Red.... with The Artistic Stamper

Hi folks and welcome to my post for The Artistic Stamper. This weeks theme is "Roses are Red" as of course, Valentine's Day is around the corner.

Personally, I am not a lover of the commercial aspect of Valentine's Day. I prefer a nice card with some heartfelt handwritten words rather than a typical bunch of dwindling red roses. (I've never been a follower of tradition...)

So, for this project I used the Neil Walker Heart stamp and the Mini Backgrounds #1 set

Here is my creation...

I took a piece of card and coloured it with Distress Oxide Inks - Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral and Fired Brick then stamped the Heart stamp using Oxide Black Soot multiple times over the card.

I then fussy cut all the hearts out and added some 3D foam just down the centre on the back of the hearts.

I stamped the dots from the Mini Background #1 set on to white card and cut out two leaf shapes and a stem shape. I crumpled the leaf shapes to give them a more realistic look.

I took a piece of 7" x 7" white card and inked the edges with Candied Apple Oxide ink. I adhered the stem and the leaves to the card. Then adhered the hearts on top of each other, layering them to give the look of petals.

For the sentiment, I used the Decay Alphabet - lower case stamp set and stamped 'For You' on a separate piece of card in Black Soot Oxide ink and inked the edges with Candied Apple and Fired Brick Oxide ink

Thanks for popping by, leave a comment if you wish, I love to hear your thoughts.
Toodles for now,

Love is... @ The Artistic Stamper

Hi folks and welcome to my post for this weeks challenge over @ The Artistic Stamper. This week's theme is 'red'.

Here is my creation...

I cut a piece of 350gsm white card to 7" x 7" and used Distress Oxide Inks - Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral and Fired Brick to ink the background. I applied the inks with ink blending brushes to have a nice covered area of colour. I then went around the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.

I used the Mini Background #1 stamp set with the 3 colours of red Distress Oxide to add some patterns to the background.

I tore 3 squares from the white card just bigger than the heart stamp, then inked the the same way as the background.

I then stamped the heart on to the three torn squares using black VersaFine ink and adhered them to the background.

I used the Decay Alphabet - lower case to stamp the words directly on to the background.

To finish, I mounted the card on to a piece of 7.5" x 7.5" black card.

Thanks for popping along today,
toodles for now...
