Using Spray Inks @ Tando

Hello lovelies and welcome to my post for Tando.

This week we have been playing with spray inks and I decided to break out my collect of Tattered Angels sprays.

Here is what I created...

I used the Tando Compendium kit from Andy Skinner which is a brilliant kit containing an MDF baseboard and a fantastic selection of greyboard cogs, a clock face, washers, screws heads, nuts and bookplates.

I first played with gluing all the greyboard pieces together as they can be used on their own or layered on top of each other to make 3D pieces. 

While the greyboard pieced were drying, I applied some DecoArt Crackle Paint and Texture Sand Paste to the MDF baseboard and left to dry. I then adhered all the greyboard on top of the MDF base.

Then I started spraying!!!!

I used Tattered Angels Baseboard sprays in Ivory, Lava and Gravel, Chalkboard Seven Seas, Simply Sheer in Shade and Glimmer Mists in Dragonfly, Merlot Gold, Pearl, Rolling Tide and Old Penny.

Texture, texture, texture @ Tando Creative

Hello lovely peeps and welcome to my blog post for Tando Creative, This weeks theme is 'Texture'.

The Tando kit I used for this project was the Cogs Mega Pack and I threw a ton of DecoArt Media products at it to create some fabulous texture.

I used DecoArt crackle paint on the bigger background.

Then used DecoArt white modelling paste on the smaller background. 

I used DecoArt texture sand paste on the cogs.

When all the pastes where dry, I used DecoArt Premium Acrylic paints.

I used a stamp from the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Sideshow stamp.

Love Heart 'Heart' @ The Artistic Stamper

Hi folks and welcome to my post for 

The Artistic Stamper. 

This month's theme is 'Red' and this week I went for a home deco project.

Here is my creation...

I had a rummage around my 'things to alter' box in my craft room and dug out a metal heart Christmas decoration.

I painted the heart with a good couple of coats of white gesso to give it some texture.

Next, I added ArtDeco crackle paint around the edges on the surface of the heart then painted it with ArtDeco Premium acrylic paints.

I then stamped the Heart stamp from The Artistic Stamper directly on to the metal heart. 

To finish, I added some jute string to the top of the heart.

That's Crafty - I Heart You Challenge

Soak It Up! @ Tando

Hey folks! Today's blog post is for Tando Creative and the theme this week is "Soak It Up!"

This is an amazing theme to focus towards Tando products as the majority of them are made from greyboard. Greyboard is a fabulous product to work with, and when it gets wet it is highly malleable. Which means you can bend and twist the greyboard to manipulate it in to different shapes. It also behaves like Gremlins, meaning it multiplies to a number of layers - so you can have a number of the same shape only thinner. It is great to experiment with this technique as loads of different outcomes can be created. 

This week, I decided to make a card and play with Tando Bottles and Jars.

Here is what I created...

First I cut a piece of card 7" x 7" and blended a selection of Distress Inks on to it. I then used Creative Expressions Midnight Waltz stamp set designed by Lisa Horton with black Versafine ink to add the stars to the background. 

I collected a selection of the Tando Jars and Bottles and sat them in a tray of water for a couple of minutes. At this point they start to expand and begin to separate. After a couple of minutes, I took them out the tray and squeezed the excess water out of them. Then you can start to manipulate them in to the shape you want. In this case, I moulded the jars and bottles around a paintbrush handle to curve the shapes in to a more 3D shape.  

I then painted them all with DecoArt black gesso. I added DecoArt texture sand paste to some of them and DecoArt white crackle paint to the others. 

When they were dry, I used DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Gold Metallic paint over the top which I applied with my finger. 

I them covered some of the jars with clear embossing ink and heat embossed clear UTEE over the top.

I stamped the Carabelle Studio wood texture stamp on to white card and cut in to 1.5cm strips. I then painted them with DecoArt Titan Buff and adhered underneath to create shelves to sit the bottles on. 

To finish, I used my Dymo machine to create the words - "get busy creating" and then painted a border around them with the Titan Buff paint.

Anything Goes @ Tando

Hi folks, and welcome to this weeks Tando post. The theme this week is Anything Goes and I chose the Tando large segment clock to play with. 

Here is what I made...

I first painted the background piece of the clock with DecoArt black gesso and the segment part of the clock with a quick coat of DecoArt white gesso. 

I applied a coat of DecoArt crackle paint to the front segment part of the clock and left it to dry.

I then applied DecoArt Carbon Black Antiquing Cream, rubbing it in to the cracks then cleaning off the excess with a damp tissue. 

On the background part of the clock I applied DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Colbalt Teal, and Primary Yellow in vertical stripes on the clock.

When the paint was dry, I used Andy Skinner's Fossil mask and DecoArt white modelling paste to create 3 different images. When the modelling paste was dry I brushed over it with watered down Colbalt Teal. 

I painted the roman numerals with black gesso, then inked them and added Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel.
