Here is my creation using 'Patty Posh'. Isn't she just fabulously posh??

I coloured in the image with my ProMarkers but with this image I decided to change the skin tones than use what I usually go for and use darker tones.

I started with colouring the skin, then hair and finished with the outfit. I wanted the outfit to be in one colour range so decided a posh range of pink colours would be suitable.

As this lovely lady was a posh lady, I decided she needed to be framed. I die cut a gold textured mirror card frame using a Spellinders die for her face, And one for the cat!

I cut the edges around the image using a fancy Spellbinders border. Then arranged the frames at an angle.

I added white feathers and a paper pinwheel which I cut in half and used one half at the bottom corner and the other half at the top corner. I then added 3 sparkly pink starts at the opposite top and bottom corners. 

I love doing this image, and it was a nice change for me to try something new with the different skin tones.

ONE STITCH AT A TIME - 1ST DESIGN TEAM PROJECT - Challenge #186

Well Hello and welcome to my debut project for One Stitch At A Time Design Team!! 




As some of you may know, I applied for OSAAT a while ago and was one of the chosen few to join the team. I announced the news on my facebook page - but as OSAAT work so far ahead (which I love, love, love) I was given the project, which seems ages ago now, and have been so eager to blog it but obviously had to wait until the challenge was released.

So here it is, my 1st OSAAT Design Team Challenge.

This weeks challenge is sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet and the winner of this challenge get the entire digi set of images used by the Design Team on challenge #184.

I coloured to image in using my ProMarkers but because of the fun image wanted the character to look old but use bright colours too. 
I started colouring the skin and hair and finished by colouring the outfit.

I decided on orange and purple, a perfect, wacky colour combination!!!

I wanted a combination of 'oldie' embellishments and newer, sparkly elements to keep within the 'young at heart' theme. 
I cut a frame from silver mirror card using a Spellbinders die and placed it on to a piece of decorative parchment paper with a paisley design and attached it to a piece of 8 x 8 spotty paper. 

I added different lace to the bottom and right side of the card and chose a combination of white paper flowers which I coloured using two different oranges, grey and white and adding 3 purple tulips.
I arranged the flowers up the side of the card and added some leaves. 

To finish, I added the sentiment, "Have a swinging birthday".

THE STAMPING CHEF - NEW RELEASE "SIRENA"

Another week here at The Stamping Chef and this weeks new release is the gorgeous "Sirena". A beautiful creature from the sea.

What a gorgeous image this was to work with.
Here is my creation using "Sirena"

 

I coloured Sirena in using ProMarkers and decided she was going to be a sun kissed blond but then needed a hint of green as she lives in the sea.

After colouring the image, I concentrated on the mermaid tail. I covered the tail with clear embossing ink and used teal green embossing powder as a full cover background. I then went over the green again with the clear ink applying it randomly to different areas then used gold embossing powder over the top to create a shimmer. 

For the background, I tore a piece of music paper and inked it to add a green tone. I placed it in the center of a gold embossed shell design paper from Kanban. 

I then added small sized shells and raindeer moss in between to look like seaweed.

To finish, I punched two holes in the top and threaded jute string through to use as a hanging then tied small piece of the same sting in knots and placed them around the center image.

A GOODBYE TO TTPH DT

Hello all, if you are an active follower of my blog you may know I usually post a creation for Through The Purple Haze Design Team on Monday Mornings.
However, this week was different, as I decided to leave TTPH DT over the weekend. 

So... this gives me loads more time to play with my more unusual products and allows me more time to work on the things I love to create such as altered art and mixed media projects. Faabbbbbuuuuuullloousssssss!!!!!

I have already been having a little play in between my other Design Team projects. I'm loving working on The Stamping chef material and I make my debut on One Stitch At A Time Design Team next week - exciting stuff!!! 

So, as they say, as one door closes a window opens - and I'm sure I can feel a draft!!!

I just wanted to thank the girls on the TTPH team for helping, assisting, supporting, listening and generally being good team mates!! A special few of you will certainly be missed!!!

THE STAMPING CHEF - NEW RELEASE "FAIL TO BAIL"

Hello, and welcome to another new release from The Stamping Chef!!

Here is my creation of "Fail to Bail".

This is another super-cool image I had the fabulous opportunity to work with. 

I used ProMarkers and as usual, I started with skin and hair. I decided this chick could definitely pull off blue hair so needed to match the skin tones with the brightness of the hair colour. 

After the skin and hair was coloured, I worked on the outfit. I again wanted to chose bright colours so picked purple and orange. 

I finished the image by colouring the skateboard with a range of colours I had already used.

I used a bright coloured but distressed stripey paper with a grungey number border for the background. Because the image and background paper was so colourful, I wanted to minimalise the embellishments I used. 

I chose the letters and numbers - s, k, 8, 2, 4 & 7 to spell skate twenty-four-seven.

I thought it was a fun way to spell out what the girl in the image may be thinking. (See, I'm still down with the kids!!)

To make the numbers and letters stand out, I inked them with clear embossing powder and heat embossed them with blue glass powder. When the embossing powder was still wet, I sprinkled gold embossing powder over the top and re-heated so the gold melted in to the blue in areas.

I attached these over the grungy numbers border of the background paper in a horizontal/vertical arrangement.

I added a rose (which was white to start with and coloured with a ProMarker) and a wax leaf to mirror the rose/leaf design on the 
skateboard. 

To finish I added the gold triple ball chain along the bottom. 

I think you will agree,another fab design from The Stamping Chef!!!

Hair - cornflower, china blue, sky blue, indigo blue.

Top - amethyst, maroon.

Shorts - bright orange, honeycomb.

* 'Heat It Up!' blue glass and gold embossing powders.

* Die cut letters/numbers.

TTPH - IndigoBlu Challenge - Bloomin' Great

This week @ Through the Purple Haze Challenges was Team A's turn (and I'm a B player) but... as it was an IndigoBlu challenge and we had the chance to work with some real stamps - everyone wanted to join in!!

IndigoBlu is one of my favourite crafty brands. I love the designs of their stamps. Distressed, delicate and just utterly gorgeous.

So, with more of us joining in with the same challenge this week, is was going to be a good one.

I received the IndigoBlu "Bloomin' Great" stamp set 

and here is my creation. 

When these gorgeous stamps landed on my doorstep my first thought was wooooohooooo!!! However, the noise that came out of my mouth - only dogs could here!!!!

My mind started ticking. I left making a start on the challenge for a couple of days as I had so many ideas, I couldn't decide which ones to try!
I had a list of things I wanted to do...
* I wanted to do something different than a card.
* Lately, I seem to reach for the 8 X 8 card stock so wanted to do something bigger.
* I wanted a simple but striking colour palette....

I decided on a wall hanging. I could imaging this on a lovely painted garden shed.....

IndigoBlu has a kind of vintagey, distressed feel to their stamps so wanted to chose suitable colours and stick to a minimal colour palette.

I chose to work with my Distress Inks and picked Broken China, Chipped Sapphire, Vintage Photo, Old Paper and Peeled Paint to play with.

I also wanted to give it a watercolour painted feel so chose to work on watercolour 300gsm card stock. 

To start with, I stamped the large flower on to watercolour card twelve times with black Archival Ink.  I coloured it with the Broken China and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink using a waterbrush. 

I then stamped ten of the large leaf stamp on to watercolour card using black 'Ink It Up' Ink. I then heat embossed it using gold 'Heat it up' embossing powder.

I coloured the leaves with a waterbrush and Old Paper Distress ink and went over the centre of the leaves with Vintage Photo Distress ink. 

I then stamped the large plaque stamp on to the card and again heat embossed it with the gold embossing powder. 

I tore the edges around the design and coloured it with the range of Distress Inks I was using. I stamped the sentiment in the center, at an angle of the plaque using the 'You're Bloomin' Great' stamp but only used the "Bloomin'" part of the stamp. 

For the background, I wanted to use something large and easy to manipulate. I decided to use cardboard. I peeled the top layer of the cardboard off so the corregated part was showing. I painted the cardboard with an olive coloured emulsion paint, then painted over the top, with teal coloured emulsion. I then randomly inked over the top with gold ink.

When the paint dried, I adhered the plaque to the bottom of the background. I then arranged the flowers at the top. I overlaid two flowers on top of each other, but put a wash of Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the bottom layer. 

I tied little knots of teal coloured ribbon and arranged them in between the flowers.

 Then added porcelain butterfly beads. 

To finish, I put two holes in the top and tied gold rope ribbon in a triple knot to hold. I also added a length of the rope ribbon with a triple knot at each end to the bottom to mirror the rope at the top.

I loved, loved, loved participating in this challenge, although I did have to 'swap' teams for the week!! (We have a healthy team A v's team B battle going on!! Ha Ha)

Having the chance to work with some rubber stamps and them being part of the fabulous IndigoBlu range.... It's been a good week...

THE STAMPING CHEF - LEG OR BREAST NEW RELEASE

Hello all, firstly I would like to thank all my lovely new followers. Thanks you so much for joining me and I hope you love what you see. Feel free to leave me any comments, good or bad - I can take it....

Now on to the fabulous new release from The stamping Chef.

This was a fabulous image to work on and I decided I wanted to use a minimal colour palette and chose browns and tan.

I coloured the image in using my ProMarkers, I started with her skin and wanted to use an olive skin tone to keep with the outfit colours I intended on using. 
I then coloured her hair using brown tones.

The outfit came next which is where I was able to mix the browns with the tan. I added a bit of another colour mixing apple and sky blue to make a light teal colour to accent the feathers in her hair and the trims on the outfit.

I am stuck in a bit of a rut at the minute - I always tend to spend an age cutting around the image with a craft knife. This time I decided to use a Spellbinders die to cut around the image creating a nicer shape than just a square. However, yes, I have no dies big enough to cut straight around the image. I need the bigger die sets. (So, if anyone is reading this who would like to know what is on my Christmas list...)

Anyway, so I put two dies from the same set around the image and drew around them, then cut them out by hand. Which to be honest, I think it looks quite good!!

I then inked around the edges. I cut a piece of brown textured card and tan textured card in to rectangles, used a corner punch and layered them off set from each other. 

I die cut some leaves from the same card and sanded over the top of them lightly.
I added two feathers in the corner of the card to match the feathers in her hair.

I adding some teal coloured gems to the feathers and corners of the card.

I finished by adding a length of teal blue scalloped ribbon down the side of the card and added a length of gold rope ribbon on top to bring out the colours in the brown.

Skin: vanilla, blush, rose pink, eyes: apple, sky blue.
Hair: mustard, caramel, cinnamon, sandstone
Outfit: caramel, cinnamon, henna, sandstone,spice, apple, sky blue.
Other: cool grey 4, slate, mustard, cinnamon, honeycomb.
* White feathers.
* Teal gems.
* Spellbinders dies.
* Vintage Photo & broken china distress inks.
* Card stock.
* Adhesive.
* Ribbon.
