Emboss your storage @ Tando Creative

Hi all, hope you are enjoying your weekend. For this weeks challenge over at Tando, it's use an embossing folder.

I decided to use some of the Tando masks rather than folders as they emboss brilliantly and they are much more funky than the folders I have. (Bore alert!!!)

Here's what I came up with...

I used the Tando letters mask and the Tando Grid - round masks to decorate the different pieces of the Tando 3D bird house desk storage, which I embossed 6 of each mask.

I dragged distress ink over the top of the embossed card and heat embossed with silver pearl distress ink.

I then coloured the background with watered down IndigoBlu English Cottage Artist Acrylic paints. Then wiped the paint of the embossed areas with a wet wipe.
I flicked on some white gesso and rubbed over some black gesso to distress it.

I did this with all 12 pieces of embossed card then drew round each of the pieces of the bird house and cut them out with a craft knife.

I glued on each piece with DecoArt multi medium and painted the roof apex with black gesso, which can also be used as chalk board paint, then put the 3D bird house together.

Faery Door @ Tando

Goodly mornin' to you all. This week at Tando Creative we've been searching at the bottom of the garden looking for mystical creatures and their habitats, looking for faery doors in particular.

Here is what I found at the bottom of my garden...

My faery door was made from the Tando Gothic Arch Layered Frame. It's made from 5 layers plus the back. I layered all the arch pieces up to create a 3D arch but only used 3 layers for the door.

To create the 'bricks' I used a thick layer of filler from a DIY shop which I mixed with some DecoArt matte medium to make it more sticky and bind together more. When it was all on there, I patted it with a spatula to create texture then ran the edge of the spatula along the arch to create the look of individual bricks.

I then painted the bricks with black and white gesso to give the colour of stone.

For the door, I wanted to make it more cute than gothic so used a palette of purples and pinks over a coat of white gesso. I used the IndigoBlu English Cottage Artist Acrylic Aladdin and Cinderella paints. After giving it a couple of good coats of colour I sanded it back like crazy to allow the white gesso underneath to show through. I stamped over the top with the 'scratches' stamp from Darkroom Door with Cloudy Sky and Ganache Stazon ink. I then added a coat of DecoArt matte medium to protect it.

To finish, I painted the number 5 from the Tando Arthur numbers in pink and added some metal embellishments for the door knob and hinge.

Hope you like my take on the Faery Door challenge. You can link your entries via the Tando Website

Thanks for popping by, toodles.....

Haunted House @ Eclectic Ellapu

Hi folks and a big BOO to you too!!!!! Yes October is here and a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu. This months theme is "horror/dark".
So along with a new month comes another American Holiday us Brits have decided to participate in!! I've never really been in to Halloween, even as a kid and in the crafting world we don't get much Halloween crafting goodies to play with in the UK. The stuff you find is often tacky and usually made of plastic. Not a great starting point.....
BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!! This year I got this.... from Tando Creations website

3D House Kit

This is Tando's 3D House Kit. It's fab!!! It comes flat packed so you can decorate each bit flat (which makes it much easier if you're adding messy media like embossing paste...)

So... here is my creation...

Hope you like my haunted house....
and hope to see you over at the challenge.
Toodles for now...

I would like to enter this make in to the following challenges:
That Craft Place - anything goes
The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge - challenge #17 wordsearch

DecoArt - mixed media haunts challenge.
(I used DecoArt Gesso and DecoArt matte medium)
